Diamonds are graded on carat weight, color, clarity and cut. Carat has the biggest effect on price, but a larger stone with poor color or visible inclusions can be worth less than a smaller, cleaner one.
A grading report from GIA or another recognized lab spells all four out and makes the evaluation faster and more precise. If you have one, bring it along with the stone.

Tell us upfront if a stone is lab-grown. Lab-grown diamonds are valued very differently from natural ones, and their resale value is much lower.
No. A receipt or grading report helps, but it isn't required.
Small stones in rings and bands are usually valued together with the piece rather than on their own.
